Burundi: the East African Underdog? We are doomed!!!
Par Melissa Sloan - le avril 23rd, 2008
We are approaching the first anniversary of the admission of Burundi in the East African Community. It is high time we look back and evaluate how we compare versus the other four partners. I did look back for you and what I saw is not good. We are the underdog!!! We have not sent to the East African legislative assembly our parlementarians . Why? Because we are more concerned about the personal interests to national interests. We participate in several consultative meetings and negotiations in the community; but our negotiators are simply "mediocre", they do not have any understanding of what they are supposed to negotiate to further burundian national interests. It is a pity; really!
So what do you suggest? Do we have a vision? Do we have any national interests or just private/personal interests?

Realistic Concerns

Burundian are passive, especially when national interests are concerned. If so called leaders cannot hold high national interests "within our borders", how can we expect them to see beyond the tip of their noses?...simple logic. Since Burundians are not choosing "qualified" leaders any time soon, we can only hope that those who participate in any session will learn by the shame of doing nothing. There are great learning opportunities in the EA for our leaders, that's probably, hopefully they see that ! Ibisigaye, bari bakwiye kuduha amahoro mu gihugu ubwa mbere!

IT IS HORRIBLE TO HAVE IRRESPONSIBLE LEADERS

As far as I am concerned ,I am not suprised to see what is happening now in our country.
It is realy hard to know what our so called leaders are doing while instead of working hard to restore durable peace et create favourable environment whereby burundians should gather and shape our country versus our neighbours ,they are taking most of their time defending their personal interests and do nothing .it is time to burundians to take necessary actions to elect strong and concious politicians that can bring some thing new to our country as well as bring people together .
However ,no matter what our differences we shall only make a difference if we will commit ourselves to do right things and walk out from any thing should divide us .I strongly hope that in order to achieve this we will therefore have to creating best way of overcoming all our weaknesses .
GOD BLESS BURUNDI AS WELL AS BURUNDIANS.
